“I am extremely disappointed with how management handled a simple billing error during our Mother's Day weekend trip to Fort Wayne. Due to a geographic mix-up, I accidentally double-booked and ended up staying at a different Best Western property in Fort Wayne for my May 8-10 trip. I believed I had cancelled this hotel through Expedia well in advance of my trip. At 5:32AM on May 10th, I contacted this hotel's front desk immediately upon noticing the issue. “I almost never take time to give a bad review, but in this case, I think it’s fair for potential customers to know information. Firstly, I’d like to point out, there was a very nice young woman who did try to help. Other than that, we were disappointed in our stay and will not be going back. The room smelled of smoke. The mattress was covered in cheap plastic, so the thin sheets slid off easily. The bed covering was very very thin. The air conditioner worked, but was loud and covered in dust....

“The room key machine was broken, and staff had to escort guests to our rooms during our stay, every time we left the room. The machine had been down 5 days according to staff. That's really not acceptable. A problem is understandable, but 5 days? There were no security checks, staff just asked your room number and walked you there without confirming that is your room. Poor way to handle the situation. ”

“We voluntarily gave up our room to another guest who ordered, but didn’t receive, a handicapped room. Ours happened to be, so we switched. I suspect we were then put in a room that they hadn’t finished remodeling. The hotel was fine, and the main part of our room was OK. But the showerhead was broken, the bathtub spout was stained, the overhead bathroom fan was hanging down as it might fall, there was paint where it shouldn’t be and lack of paint where there should. “Beds were comfortable. Property was still under some remodel, but our floor was finished. Could had paid more attention to detail when cleaning, but overall clean. Would stay there again!”

The staff has ruined my stay by making a mistake in my reservation and ruining my son’s graduation day for me, the room service doesn’t not care about Do not disturb signs and ruined a very important work meeting for me by literally breaking into my room. I will skip mentioning breakfast, amenities and other minor things. Associating itself with Hilton is a misleading claim.”
